Gainsborough Heart Support Group
The Gainsborough Heart Support Group was formed in 2012. The Group which is affiliated to the British Heart Foundation fundraise to support and benefit people and organisations in the Gainsborough and surrounding area as well as the British Heart Foundation. Event co-ordinator Carol Loxley explains:
"We have fundraised for a number of organisations etc. in the Gainsborough area. We get great support in our efforts from local people and organisations.”
The new defibrillator (shown above) at the Connexions Community Hub in Church Street. Gainsborough, has been secured by the Connexions project through fundraising activities with St John’s Ambulance Gainsborough, the Performing Arts Club St Johns, National Citizens Service and the Gainsborough Heart Support Group. Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) are portable devices that can be used on someone having a heart attack. They check the heart rhythm and send an electric shock to the heart to try and restore it to normal. In the event of someone suffering a cardiac arrest, the time it takes to administer aid is critical.
Gainsborough and Morton Strider Paschal Moran took part in the London Marathon on Sunday 28th April 2019. This was Paschal’s incredible 143rd marathon that he has completed during his extensive running career which now includes 30 London Marathons. Paschal had generously agreed to run, this year in aid of the Gainsborough Heart Support Group. Through Paschal’s efforts and the generosity of all those who sponsored or made donations the magnificent sum of £1328.36 was raised.
The Gainsborough Heart Support Group are extremely grateful to all of those who contributed including staff at Eminox, Lincoln County and John Coupland hospitals, Jennifers hairdressers Beckingham, Boulting Group Ltd Scunthorpe, Construction Interior Design Ltd Rutland and Eight Jolly Brewers together with all the friends, family and acquaintances of both the Group and Paschal. All the monies raised were donated to Eliot House, Morton to assist in their purchase of a defibrillator and to the British Heart Foundation.
